Professional Standing

 

In order to comply with the national CPD requirements of the Standards, CEANT requires Associate members to accumulate a minimum of 15 hours of CPD per year across the span of competency areas. Professional members require 30 hours minimum. The CEANT CPD policy will be issued upon membership registration.

 

The Core Competencies are grouped into seven broad areas:

  • Career Development Theory
  • Labour Market
  • Advanced Communication Skills
  • Ethical Practice
  • Diversity
  • Information & Resource Management
  • Professional Practice

 

The Standards

  • Define the career industry, its members and services
  • Recognise the diverse skills & knowledge of career practitioners
  • Guide practitioner entry into the industry
  • Provide a foundation for designing career practitioner training
  • Provide quality assurance to the public and other stakeholders
  • Establish a professional benchmark against which career practitioners can be assessed
  • Require career practitioners to undertake continuing professional development
  • Create an agreed terminology for the industry.

Janine Watt Award

 

Professional Development recognised by CEANT may qualify for scholarship support through the annual Janine Watt Award.

 

The 2014 Awardee was Vida Goodvach.

The 2015 Awardee was Beryl Brugmans.

The 2016 Awardee was Ashley Gillies
